There are three questions that circle our minds everyday whether we realize it or not. What is truth?  Which way should I go? What is the meaning of life? We are faced with decisions imageall the time. It would be merely impossible to count just one day’s worth of decisions we face and make.  I guess from a worldly perspective, one man’s truth can be another man’s lie.  So how does one get to the truth?  A governor named Pilate once asked Jesus, “Are you a king?”

John 18:33-38

Then Pilate went back into his headquarters and called for Jesus to be brought to him. “Are you the king of the Jews?” he asked him.  Jesus replied, “Is this your own question, or did others tell you about me?”

“Am I a Jew?” Pilate retorted. “Your own people and their leading priests brought you to me for trial. Why? What have you done?” Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.” Pilate said, “So you are a king?” Jesus responded, “You say I am a king. Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.” “What is truth?” Pilate asked. Then he went out again to the people and told them, “He is not guilty of any crime.  Shortly after Pilate had this conversation with Jesus, Pilate released a harden criminal named Barabas instead of Jesus, in following with a Jewish custom that allowed the Jewish people to request a prisoner to be set free during Passover.  If Pilate truly wanted the truth he would had recognized who Jesus was.  Jesus answered Pilate’s question in verse 37 before he even asked it.  “I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.”

Ever heard of the Bermuda Traingle?  It’s that stretch of the Atlantic Ocean somewhere off the coast of Florida between Bermuda and Puerto Rico where ships, planes, and people have mysteriously disappeared.  Well, I got thinking about another kind of dangerous and mysterious triangle … The Emotional Triangle.

imageFear, shame and doubt … if you have ever fallen prey to these three things you have entered into the Emotional Triangle.  The emotional triangle is a place where life gets swollowed up in death.  It can happen to anyone of us at any given time when we choose to navigate these waters of life.  But just like the real life Burmuda Trianglenot all who enter end up in disaster (death).  Matter of fact, stranger occurrences have been linked to other parts of the globe.  So what is the reasoning behind the mistery of the Bermuda Triangle?  Truth is, just like fear, shame and doubt some things just defy logic.

Disasters in the Bermuda Triangle have been linked to everything from navigational interferences, magnetic interference with onboard compasses, rapid change in the weather disabling vessels and taking them off course, to simply human error.  And some are just unexplainable.  So as humans we often find ourselves filling in the blank in our feble attempts to make sense of those things that defy logic.

Have you ever stopped to take the time and think about the ways God has used people and circumstances to bring His message to you?  Well that’s just what I’m doing right now as  I’m typing this blog.  I am thinking how God used a friend and a home project to bring forth this message and post, “HAVE YOU GOT GOD ON YOUR CALLER ID?”

Not too long ago I telephoned a friend and asked  him if he could come by to help me finish a home project I was working on.  We had not seen each other in over a year, but on the day of his arrival it was if time had stood still.  There was no  laspe of time for us.  Our conversation started like it was yesterday, instead of a year gone by.  Right away we both started talking about the goodness of the Lord Jesus.  As our dialogue continued, my friend seem to come out of the blue with this statement, “THE WORST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO A CHRISTIAN WAS CALLER ID.”  He started laughing as he repeated, “Yea, that’s right, THE WORST THING TO EVER HAPPEN WAS CALLER ID.”  Now I’m laughing because of his contagious laughter and I asked him to explain what he meant.  Then, he shared this story with me.

He told me how he was about to do something that he knew he shouldn’t do – when his cell phone rang.  He checked his caller ID and saw that is was his wife.  He chuckled shaking his head out of embarrassment as he confessed his response.  I’m not answering this.  He knew that if heimage answered there would be questions … questions that might interfere with his plans.  We both are now laughing uncontrollably as I now confess … been there done that.  My friend went on to say what if God was using a person at a particular time and place to get His message across to you.  God could be using that caller to tell you to not to start what you’re about to start or to stop what you are currently doing.  But with Caller ID, we are quick to look and decide if we are going to take the call.
